Today I pushed myself harder then I ever have. I had the brilliant idea to race in the black mountains not far from Toulouse-a 55 kms trail-mountain race with close to 4000 m of climbing. Not on a great day energy wise I thought about bailing at the 25 km food stand but played mental games with myself to forge ahead and tell the people in my head to shut the fuck up!
26 men hitched rides back down from there and I told myself since I don’t live in the mountains I needed the training! Two amazing blizzards on the pic de Nord later, which we climbed twice ( 20 cm of snow) with vertical descents I can’t say I was prepared!! I do love a good challenge though and with amazing encouragement from my racing pals I managed to finish, win the women’s race and cry like a baby when I crossed the finish line. This one was for you amazing volunteers!
